When Nikole and Garrett reached out about their engagement photos, they had such a beautiful vision: to spend an entire day in the desert, capturing both sunrise and sunset in two completely different places. As a Colorado but down-to-travel photographer, I live for sessions like this: adventurous, intentional, totally you.
We began the day at Dead Horse Point State Park for sunrise. The first light spilling over the canyon felt like pure magic, the kind of stillness that only exists in those early hours. The two of them soaked it in together, quietly celebrating their engagement with the desert as their witness. There’s something about sharing those first golden rays that feels grounding, like the start of a brand new chapter.
Later in the evening, we made our way to Fisher Towers for sunset. This time, their two pups joined in, because what’s an adventure without your best four-legged children? Watching their dogs run across the red desert sand and then curl up next to them was the perfect reminder that love isn’t just about two people — it’s about the family and life you’re building together.
The desert has its own special kind of magic. The vastness of the red rocks, the way the colors shift with the sun, and the quiet beauty of it all, it creates space for intentional moments. And that’s exactly what Nikole and Garrett embraced: an adventure that was beautiful, meaningful, and true to who they are.
If you’re dreaming of photos that feel alive with the magic of the desert, I’d love to capture your story. Whether you’re planning an elopement, proposal, or engagement session, Moab is the perfect place to create something unforgettable. As an adventure photographer and Moab engagement photographer, I know all the best spots to chase light, explore, and make your session feel uniquely yours.
