Surprise Proposal in Crested Butte

When Jacob first reached out about proposing to Juliana, their trip to Crested Butte was still eight months away. Traveling from Texas for their first visit to Colorado's wildflower capital, he wanted to make sure they timed their trip for peak wildflower season and create a proposal that felt intentional and personal.

As a Colorado engagement photographer, one of my favorite parts of the process is helping couples plan more than just the photos. Jacob wanted a location close to town that wouldn't require a long hike, with the idea of surprising Juliana on a sunset walk after dinner. Most importantly, he wanted the proposal itself to feel private so they could fully enjoy the moment together before celebrating with photos afterward.

To help him choose the perfect spot, I sent over several location options that matched what he was looking for. Since he wouldn't be able to visit any of them before the proposal day, I also provided photos and video footage of his favorite location in advance so he could confidently know what to expect on the day of.

On the day of, as the sun dipped behind the peaks, Jacob got down on one knee and asked Juliana to spend forever with him. Afterward, we explored the area for engagement photos, capturing the excitement of the evening surrounded by some of Crested Butte's most beautiful summer scenery.
