A Peaceful Sunrise Elopement in Twin Lakes, CO

When Rob and Lauren first reached out, they knew they wanted to plan a sunrise elopement in Colorado, but they weren’t exactly sure where. They were open to recommendations — looking for a quiet, scenic spot with no little to no hike required, where they could bring their dog along and share an intimate moment before their bigger wedding day. As their Colorado elopement photographer, I knew just the place.
I made a few recommendations, but Twin Lakes checked all the boxes. Tucked at the base of towering peaks and surrounded by water and stillness, it’s one of the most peaceful locations for couples wanting privacy without needing to venture too far off the beaten path. With its quiet shoreline and epic mountain views, it was the perfect place for Rob and Lauren to exchange vows in total privacy.
This morning was extra meaningful — it marked exactly one year before they would celebrate their marriage with family and friends. But instead of waiting to share their vows, they wanted this moment to be just for them. Just the two of them, their dog Stout, and the soft colors of a Colorado sunrise.
And yes, Stout was very much part of the celebration. Lauren hand-made her the cutest flower collar to wear, and Stout proudly stood by their side as they said “I do.” She even signed the marriage certificate with a perfect little paw print — officially sealing the deal.
This day was the perfect blend of intentional and low-key. It’s proof that you don’t have to choose between an adventurous elopement and a larger celebration — you can have both. A quiet morning for just the two of you, and a future date to celebrate with everyone you love.
